Founded in 1978, Kreher Steel Company, LLC is one of the largest distributors of a full range of carbon, alloy, and stainless steel bar products, and cold heading quality carbon and alloy rod and wire products. For the past 32 years, the strength of Kreher Steel has been our people, and we are proud to carry on this time-honored tradition. The knowledge and unique flexibility provided by our sales people allows us to adapt to our customers’ exact specifications. Our sales people are backed by a dynamic support staff. They work hand-in-hand to build close working relationships with each customer.

From the beginning, Kreher Steel was an innovator in just-in-time programs. We cultivate and maintain close relationships with a nationwide web of warehouses and processors, which results in products that are delivered on time and within your budget, anywhere in the country.

In 1985, Kreher Steel acquired American Bar Sales, with sales offices in Detroit, Michigan, and Dallas, Texas with a warehouse in Midlothian, Texas.

We out grew our original 20,000 sq. ft. Franklin Park facility, and in 1986
purchased the 56,000 sq. ft. office and warehouse facility in Melrose Park, Illinois, which is Kreher Steel’s headquarters today..

Kreher Steel acquired the Houston, Texas facility and opened the sales office and warehouse in 1988.

1998 was the year Kreher Steel attained initial ISO certification of our quality management system by Intertek of Kentwood, MI, USA, a certification body accredited by ANAB.

In 2000, Kreher Steel acquired Kreher Wire Processing, Inc., Romulus, Michigan.

Kreher Wire Processing attained initial ISO certification of their quality management system in 2001 by Intertek of Kentwood, MI, USA, a certifying body accredited by ANAB.

Kreher Steel has been a Caterpillar Inc. Wrought Steel Approved Supplier since December 7, 2006.

In 2007, Kreher Steel acquired Special Metals Incorporated. Through continual innovation and dedication to the customer, Special Metals is a leading distributor of quality steel and steel products. Kreher Wire’s commitment to maintain a low cost supply solution, with the continuing goal of increased customer satisfaction, resulted in the 2008 start up of their new, high quality, state-of-the-art pickle line. Kreher Wire meets or exceeds all IFI-140 standards.

Kreher Steel employees’ commitment to excellence is reflected in our continued ISO certification. In 2009, our quality management system was certified to ISO 9001:2008 by Intertek of Kentwood, MI, USA, a certification body accredited by ANAB, and by Intertek of Kista, Sweden, a certification body accredited by SWEDAC, the national accreditation body of Sweden.

2010 Kreher Wire Processing’s quality management system was certified to ISO 9001:2008 by Intertek of Kentwood, MI, USA, a certification body accredited by ANAB.
